Puppy Fundamentals
Reward based gundog training for gundog breeds (regardless of pet or working) is the most effective route to a well mannered, responsive and happy family dog you can take anywhere.
Puppy Fundamentals is a small group class designed to give you and your puppy the very best foundation. We start with a 90 minute induction session (attended without your dog) followed by 7 sessions of 75 minutes.
Sessions are hands-on and progressive, building essential real-world skills including:
Engagement — getting and keeping your puppy's attention, even with distractions
Recall — the most important skill you'll ever teach, built properly from the start
Loose lead walking — understand how to build value for the dog in order for this skill to become a pleasure and not a chore
Classes are kept deliberately small so every dog and handler gets the attention they need. By the end of the course you'll have a puppy with solid foundations — and the knowledge and confidence to keep building on them.

Who should book this course?
Anyone with a gundog breed over the age of 3 months, wanting to use reward based training methods.
You absolutely don’t have to be planning to work or compete your dog, our courses are equally suitable for pet dogs AND those wanting to work or compete with their dogs. You do however need to have some interest in the training process beyond just wanting to stop your dog pulling on the lead and getting good recall. Training a dog is an ongoing process and our courses are about meeting the genetically programmed needs of your gundog breed, as well as your desire for a well behaved pet.
This course is not however, suitable for non-gundog breeds.
This course is not suitable for dogs with behavioural issues e.g reactivity to other dogs or humans.
This course is not suitable for those under 18 years old.
NB - Dogs will need to be left in the cars for short periods of time during classes. The cars are close to where we will be and always in sight, but please ensure you are happy with this and that your car is set up for this before you book the course.
